Preparing for your appointment

Your appointment starts with a detailed introductory voicemail, text message, or contact form to us! We will call you back to evaluate your needs, both scheduling and medical, and ensure we can help. If it is determined that euthanasia is potentially the right course of action for your pet, we will get your family on the schedule. No later than the day before your appointment, you will receive a phone call from the doctor who will walk you through what to expect and discuss any questions you may have.

For qualify of life scales, aid in getting senior cats to eat, information about how to help pets and children grieve, and other helpful information for sick and senior pets, see our reading materials section.

On the day of your appointment window (typically 2 hours), you will get a phone call letting you know when the doctor is leaving the preceding appointment, usually 15 minutes to 1 hour away, depending on scheduling. Upon arrival at your home (or wherever you choose - the park, your yard, or a favorite local spot of your pup's!), the doctor will chat with you about your pet, your concerns, and all you've been through together, and give you an idea of what to expect during the procedure, should it be deemed necessary and appropriate for your pet. Although the idea of euthanasia can seem insurmountable, most families find that the actual procedure is less scary than they had anticipated, particularly by focusing on their pet and her/his needs in the moment.

After the appointment you will have a clay paw print and fur clipping, should you choose. Your pet's ashes (for private cremation) will typically be returned in your chosen method within 7-10 business days. We take great pride in knowing that these are handled with extreme care and fondness for the memory of your beloved best friend.
